Théâtre Sévelin 36

Founded in 1995 by Philppe Saire, the aim of the Théâtre Sévelin 36 is the development and recognition of contemporary dance at the centre of the local and regional cultural environment. Initially the home of the Compagnie Philippe Saire, the Théâtre swiftly became involved in promotional activities for contemporary dance. It makes a major contribution to the diffusion of international scale works by registering with a netword of dynamic auditoriums in the vanguard of current choregraphy. It promotes the development of local companies by suggesting the use of young choregraphers in its programmes.

The Théâtre Sévelin 36 reinforces its identity as a dance venue by offering shows with demanding artistic qualities, by supporting youthful creative choregraphy by creative residences and studio hosting, as well as by developing a mediation programe.

Fron March 2012, the Théâtre Sévelin 36 will bring together the events formerly known as the Phintemps de Sévelin and the Festival International de Danse de Lausanne, within a single event that will be a highlight for contemporary danse at the beginning of the year. This will be an opportunity to show the audience the demanding, sensitive new work of both nascent and experienced artists, be they Swiss or international. This will mainly be at the Théâtre Sévelin 36, but also in other partner enues in the Lausanne region.
